Sun Conures are colorful, intelligent, and affectionate parrots known for their playful personalities and loud calls. With proper care, they can live 20โ30 years or more, making them a long-term companion. They thrive on daily interaction, mental stimulation, and a nutritious diet.
Choose a spacious cage that allows your Sun Conure to fully spread its wings and climb comfortably. Include multiple natural wood perches of different sizes, food and water dishes, and plenty of safe toys for chewing and problem-solving. Place the cage in a bright, draft-free area where the bird can interact with the family, but avoid direct sunlight for extended periods and keep it away from kitchens or fumes.
A balanced diet is essential for good health. Feed 60โ70% high-quality pellets as the primary food, along with 20โ30% fresh vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, leafy greens, and peas. Offer fresh fruits like apples (without seeds), berries, mango, and bananas in moderation because they contain more natural sugar. Seeds and nuts should be given as occasional treats rather than the main diet, and fresh water should always be available.
